· M – Measurable
o Your goal should include some kind of quantifiable measure. This way, you’ll know if you progress, how much progress you’re making, and whether or not you’ve reached your goal.
· A – Attainable
o Make sure your goal can be something that can be achieved.
· R – Realistic
o Your goal should be something you can complete given the current resources, your knowledge, and your time.
· T – Time Frame
o You should have a specific length of time in mind in which you want to complete your goal. The time frame should be long enough to actually complete your goal, but not too long.
3. Review, update, and revise.
By constantly evaluating your progress you can ensure that you are on the right track to achieving it and that your goal is still realistic and attainable by your deadline. This should be done frequently throughout the duration of your set time frame.
4. Reward yourself as you progress.
Without the little steps, you will never be able to achieve your overall, big goal. So treat yourself after you knock out each of your small goals that will help move you towards your final goal.
5. Set goals that don’t contradict each other.
By doing this, your chances of success increase immensely.
6. Enjoy the challenges.
Throughout the entirety of your goal, be serious but at the same time, enjoy yourself! It’s these challenges that show us what we are really made of.
